Joseph Monplaisir was born in 1962. He graduated from Rockland College, NY in 1988 and later on attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He received his first award in May 2000. He appeared in an article also for the first time in the Philadelphia inquire summer art news in April 2000. His works have been collected by many art collectors throughout the states especially in Philadelphia, New York and Washington DC. He worked as as Art Director for St. Helena Incarnation school in King Prussia PA from 2004 to 2015. He was also an Art instructor and Director for the Indochinese American Council in Philadelphia from 2003 to 2015. While many of his early groups shows took place in a relatively small Academy gallery on Race St, in Philadelphia.
His works was greatly appreciated for the astonishing art experiences they contained. Joseph inial early shows had been enough to establish his genious but his two last academy museum shows in May 2000 and May 2003 was something else again, expanding the vocabulary of palette knives painting even more and unveiling unsuspected layers of versatility and sensitivity. Joseph accomplishment as a painter and his credentials as a promising first class comtemporary artist. He took palette knives paintings into an entirely different stratosphere.
